The project is a year project taken in Los Angeles during 2010 and 2011. Its pure street photography and most of the images are taken out of the car during driving, shooting 5,6 and 125 second while driging around 35 miles per hour.

I lived in L.A. downtown in a former bank building that is now converted into lofts. I drove almost every day through the city. It is hard to park the car in LA and simply get out to take images. L.A. is not designed for people, for pedestrians, it is made for cars. But my car had a suntop so I could take images easily also from the side windows while holding up the camera through the suntop. I was also taking pics at the crossroads while waiting for the green light.

Every day I produced around 300 images and choose the best or most interesting ones in the evening on the computer. So you can imagine how many images I have edited. The light in L.A. helps a lot to shoot out of a car. Sun shines almost every day, there are lots of reflections and it is easy to find a perfect light.

The city of L.A. is a tough city to live in. Therea are many homeless, lots of crime and lonely people on every corner. It is very difficult to compare it to life in Europe. It is a city for survivors and hard boiled people. There is police on almost every corner and up in the air you can always see a helicopter somewhere. Camera surveillance and armed responses give you the feeling of a lost place. Therefore I ended up naming the project „No More Angels.“
